You can call it workforce reduction, or Surplus (IBM called it before) or layoff or whatever. The bottom line is that some people lose their job on the same day.
Unfortunately, it happened in my client s IT department last week. The department head let the 8 people go which inluded one PM and seven software developers. Most of the people, who got laid off, have worked for this company for over 20 years.
The good part is that I still have a job and still breathingtoday; the bad part is we need to absorb their responsibilities. Guess what? If our big boss didn t give a fuck, why should I give a fuck?
I will still give my best shot (it is so called work ethics), but I won t give myself too much pressure to have a heart attack.
