「棋」( Chess )是著名的作詞家 Tim Rice 所創作出的概念專輯，他以往的作品通常是根據真人實事來撰寫歌詞內容，如他和大名鼎鼎的安德魯洛伊韋伯合作的「艾薇塔」、「萬世巨星」，這張專輯卻是他依據美國和蘇聯兩國之間行之多年的西洋棋大賽所杜撰出來的故事，負責音樂編寫的則是瑞典國寶 ABBA 阿巴合唱團的兩位男團員 Benny Andersson 及 Bjorn Ulvaeus。
